Lamenting A Wayward Church

Today I am lamenting, with a deeper foreboding than yesterday, the apostasy unfolding exponentially before our very eyes. A come-one-come-all carnalval of self replicating delirium. I am of course referring to the in your face, storm this place, sheer disgrace charismania coming to a mega church near you.

Please, take a generous moment to consider the damage this whorish impostor is doing, not merely to the Church, but to our Father's Holy Name. Preaching a 'gospel' so far removed from that of the authentic Christian faith, it would be laughable in its application if it were not so grave in its consequence. Luring not with Gospel but gimmick,  and with a cooing carnality befitting the Fowler who sounds it, they embrace by the flattery's of men, a myriad of false converts who will, each and every one, stand with a trembling throng on that great and terrible Day of the Lord, only to hear that most awful command... "Depart from me, I never knew you".

Surely there can be no more despicable an act as to deceive another with regard to their eternal soul. To lead one to believe he is redeemed when he is not is beyond cruel. Does the Lord hold accountable those who deceive unknowingly in this great crime? How can a child of God be counted among the deceivers? Those who belong to the Lord hear His voice and they follow Him alone. They will not follow another. (John 10: 1-5)

Deceived and being deceived (2 Timothy 3:13) is a term concerning the unredeemed, among whom are this great throng believing themselves to be of the household of faith when in fact, having ascribed to a false gospel they have received a Jesus made in their own image to their own condemnation. Please consider that deeply. Imagine it were you. Perhaps it is. Pray it isn't.

Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! 2 Corinthians 13:5 (ESV)

This truly is a serious matter. Our Messiah demonstrated His passion toward His Father's House when He cleansed His temple. The Church is to be a house of prayer, not a self aggrandising, self indulgent, revenue raking, celebrity worshipping, politically neutral sack of jiggling jello. We are right to be likewise indignant with these wolves who are doing just as their fore fathers have done. There are souls at stake, but this should not be our highest concern. The Father will bring who He will bring, that is His promise. Our highest focus then should be upon our Father whose bride is being ridiculed and more importantly whose Name is being sullied, ridiculed, mocked, made a laughing stock and relentlessly blasphemed by those who hate Him. His Name is being blasphemed! and by the very ones who claim to love Him. Satan must surely be beside himself at what humanity will believe and follow. Think about that some.

And what of those snared already by the Fowler? And what of those being attracted by his tribal drums and artificial light? Perhaps in the first instance there are some merely deceived who require the truth by our collective voice. Perhaps for others this is their judgement for not having loved the truth so as to be saved.

"Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers,  not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.  Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction,  who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.  Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?  And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time.  For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.  And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.  The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,  and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,  in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 (ESV)

In the second instance we must earnestly contend for the faith once delivered for the saints. This truth we proclaim, this Gospel, is for the saints, the children of the Kingdom. We must preach it high and low even in the midst of this present night, allowing the Holy Spirit to do and save as He wills - leaving to Him the headcount and the Glory. We must expose works of darkness to the light of God's truth for the sake of the elect and for the glory of our great King. That truth is found between the pages of the Holy Bible. It is not anywhere contained in a thousand renditions of Your Best Life Now. I agree with John MacArthur, that for all those who believe THIS is their best life now, it probably will be!

If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 1 Corinthians 15:19 (ESV)

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,  and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:1-2 (ESV)

Creation and the New Birth

Thinking about the creation event in Genesis 1:1 What a beautiful description also of the salvation of a sinner... from the foundation of the world remember?

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth" In the beginning... GOD. That's the point folks. He is the Alpha and Omega - the Beginning and the End, and I put it to you, everything in between as well. This is ALL about Him, and the sooner we get a clue the better!

"The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep". What a stunning picture of the sinner... formless, void and covered with darkness... literally dead.

"And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters". The word picture drawn here is that of a mother hen brooding over her chicks with tenderness. The Spirit of God broods over the sinner convicting him of his sin, drawing him to Christ.

"And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light" The light is Salvation, the same light spoken of in John 3:19. That light is Jesus Christ. And GOD said... and there was.

Redemption foretold in creation, the foundation of the world... to the glory of God Almighty!

Not escaping the attention of the astute is the reality that the 'earth' did not 'choose' to receive the light, for it was at the time, formless, void and covered in darkness (Heb chôshek - figuratively, 'death').

GOD said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

In the beginning GOD... Perspective is important!

“Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the LORD have created it". Isaiah 45:8

Charismatics and the Sovereignty of Satan

I received an interesting letter the other day. It came from some people who came to Grace [Community] Church from a Charismatic church –a very large, prominent Charismatic church.

That’s quite a jump — to leave there and come to Grace Church.The only thing they knew in their church about me was that I didn’t have the power of the Holy Spirit.That’s all they knew — that I didn’t believe [in the continuation of the gifts], so I didn’t have the power of the Holy Spirit.

They didn’t know much else [about our church], but as circumstances indicated they came to Grace, on a visit, and they never left.. . . There are a number of people who were in this group that came, and one of the ladies wrote a really interesting letter to me. It is an amazingly well-written letter. . . [And] in the letter, this is what was laid out.When you think of the [broader] Charismatic movement, you think of speaking in tongues, or healings, or Benny Hinn knocking people down, and things like that.But there are some underlying things in the Charismatic worldview that are really very, very terrifying. And she pointedout this in the letter.
She said:

You know we lived all our life in this movement and one thing dominates that movement, and it is that Satan is sovereign.If you get sick, it was the devil.If your child gets sick, it was the devil.The devil made your child sick.And even if your child dies Satan somehow got the victory.If your spouse, your husband or your wife gets cancer, that’s the devil that did that.If you had an accident, the devil did that. If you lost your job, the devil did that.If things didn’t go the way you wanted them to go in your company or your family and you wound up with a loss of job or a divorce — the devil did all of that. The devil has to be bound and so you have got to learn these formulas, because you have got to bind the devil or he is really going to control everything in your life.

The devil dominates everything, and he is assisted by this massive force of demons who also have to be dealt with, and you have got to do everything you can to try to overcome these spiritual powers, and they are invisible and they are fast and they are powerful, and they are really impossible for you to deal with on any permanent basis, so it is an ongoing, incessant struggle with the devil.

And the lady in the letter just basically said, “We lived our whole lives thinking that everything that went wrong in the entire universe was basically because of the devil. The devil is really sovereign in everything and even God, along with us, is really struggling like crazy to overcome the devil.”
She said:

I lived with heart palpitations, panic attacks, anxiety, frightening dreams — waking up in the middle of the night terrified that the devil might be doing something to my child while he’s lying in his bed.Just living in this constant terror of what Satan was doing; that when the wrong guy gets elected — Satan put him there.That when the society goes a certain direction it is all under the control of Satan. Satan is really the sovereign of everything and it is really difficult to get control of him — even God is up there wringing His hands trying to get control of this deal.

I lived with that fear and that terror because I took my church seriously.”And she said, “I came to Grace [Community Church] and one thing just totally shocked me.You said that:

The fact is, God is in control of everything! . . .When you get sick, or when somebody gets cancer, or when something goes wrong in the world, or when you lose your job, that is not outside the tolerances of God, that is not outside the purposes of God, in fact, God works all things together for good.

This was absolutely earth shaking.This was a total change for us, and the difference we found was so powerful that it totally changed the way we think about life.

That is the issue. We do not believe Satan is in charge of history; we believe God is in charge.That changes everything. That takes all the panic out.I can honestly say that I have never had a panic attack.I have never awakened in the night worrying what the devil might be doing, because God has not only conquered Satan, but God has put Satan under our feet it says, and, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” [1 John 4:4].So we know God controls history.And this might surprise you, the devil is God’s servant.If you want to read a great book, read, Erwin Lutzer’s book on Satan, in which he points that out so capably.

Albert Barnes Commentary on Philippians 3:10 - What is The Fellowship of Christ's Sufferings?

And the fellowship of his sufferings - That I may participate in the same kind of sufferings that he endured; that is, that I may in all things be identified with him. Paul wished to be just like his Saviour. He felt that it was an honor to live as he did; to evince the spirit that he did, and to suffer in the same manner. All that Christ did and suffered was glorious in his view, and he wished in all things to resemble him. He did not desire merely to share his honors and triumphs in heaven, but, regarding his whole work as glorious, he wished to be wholly conformed to that, and, as far as possible, to be just like Christ. Many are willing to reign with Christ, out they would not be willing to suffer with him; many would be willing to wear a crown of glory like him, but not the crown of thorns; many would be willing to put on the robes of splendor which will be worn in heaven, but not the scarlet robe of contempt and mockery.

They would desire to share the glories and triumphs of redemption, but not its poverty, contempt, and persecution. This was not the feeling of Paul. He wished in all things to be just like Christ, and hence he counted it an honor to be permitted to suffer as he did. So Peter says, “Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings;” 1Pe_4:13. So Paul says Col_1:24 that he rejoiced in his sufferings in behalf of his brethren, and desired “to fill up that which was behind, of the afflictions of Christ,” or that in which he had hitherto come short of the afflictions which Christ endured. The idea is, that it is an honor to suffer as Christ suffered; and that the true Christian will esteem it a privilege to be made just like him, not only in glory, but in trial. To do this, is one evidence of piety; and we may ask ourselves, therefore, whether these are the feelings of our hearts. Are we seeking merely the honors of heaven, or should we esteem it a privilege to be reproached and reviled as Christ was - to have our names cast out as his was - to be made the object of sport and derision as he was - and to be held up to the contempt of a world as he was? If so, it is an evidence that we love him; if not so, and we are merely seeking the crown of glory, we should doubt whether we have ever known anything of the nature of true religion.

How Far The Modern Church Has Fallen

Do you remember David Wilkerson's Sword and the Switchblade? It was the story of a street thug's conversion to Christ. That former thug was Nicki Cruz, and here is what he has to say about the modern Church....

"We stink more of the World than we stink of of Sack Cloth and Ashes. A lot of Contemporary Churches today would feel more at Home in a Movie House rather than in a House of Prayer, more afraid of Holy Living than of Sinning, know More about Money than Magnifying Christ in our Bodies. It is so Compromised that Holiness and Living a Sin-Free life is Heresy to the Modern Church. The Modern Church is, quite simply, just the World with a Christian T-shirt on!"

I Want To Be Just Like...?

One of those random thoughts we all have from time to time popped into my head this afternoon...

"Who would you rather be like, whispered the voice, Pastor John MacArthur or Pastor Jim McClarty?"

Hmmm, I pondered. I doubt that I could posses a higher regard for any human being in a teaching capacity than I do for both of these outstanding men of God.

How does one compare the truth with the truth? And surely he who places the vessel on a higher shelf than the One who fills it, is still dead in his trespasses and sins.

So I opened my mouth and said something like...

Lord, while I highly respect and deeply regard these, and many more brothers just like them, and while their evident love for Your sheep in their temporary care is profound, while their shepherd's watchful demeanor is comforting and reassuring in your stead, and while their humble manner and knowledge are certainly high virtues to be admired, I just know these men and many more just like them would, in a photon of time, announce to all who would hear, that everything they have, every cell of their being, is gifted by Your Almighty hand Lord. You and You alone are the giver of all good gifts and we, Your fallen creation are the unworthy recipients.

So, if it's all the same.... I'd rather be like You!

Yes, I know that way will be hard and my companions will be few. Your Word has told me so. I am aware of, and in You prepared for, the adversity and persecution to come because my security is in You... not in me. You are completely and utterly sovereign, and I am not!

Having seen the scandalous love you shamelessly expressed on Calvary, how could I not lose my life in You and in You find it also?

I love You Lord.

Amusements

After listening to a fantastic sermon by Pastor Jim McClarty today, I have a clearer understanding as to why and how the modern charismatic sector of the professing Church is so breathtakingly oblivious to that which is so blatantly evident to all BUT them.

Lulled into la la land by their endless entertainments and seductive curtain call serenades, and for having turned inward for guidance to that mythical anthropic divinity they pamper within, they have become altogether void of any vestige of discernment. They are indeed perishing for their lack of knowledge. There is in their 'community', a drought of the preaching of God's Word. They are therefore, one might say, in a perpetual state of theological delirium. They have been dumbed down with an endless succession of demon doctrine diets. And their amusements... gifts from the master seducer.

The word Muse means To Think. When the preface 'a' is added to a word, it changes the meaning of the word following it. For example, Moral (With Morals) when prefaced by the letter 'a' the word becomes amoral and embraces the meaning Without Morality. Asexual (without sex - gender) and so on. Therefore when Muse (To Think or With Thought) is prefaced by the letter 'a' the word comes to mean Without Thought.

Therefore Amusement means Without Thought, which explains why all too often the preaching in these entertainment arcades unashamedly masquerading as the true Church, is oh so shallow, the tribal chanting oh so long, and the people oh so... weird.

Just so sad to watch.

City Life Church - Prominent 'Christian' Leaders and political party Family First embroiled in Abortion Disgrace

Church leaders and the bloody abortion industry

The abortion industry in Australia is a morally corrupt and evil industry. It is a massive billion dollar a year business which profits by distorting and

hiding the truth about abortion. More precisely, by providing false and

misleading counselling to distressed mothers, and ripping little babies out of their mothers’ womb or dropping them in a bucket of formaldehyde - and finally collecting their broken bodies and incinerating them like garbage. This is the abortion industry exposed: bloody, callous and shocking. So what do we say then, when we find prominent church leaders managing a company that is involved in such a horrific industry? Because this is exactly what has occurred.

In early February this year, 2011, a Melbourne woman accidently discovered that leaders in one of the largest Churches in Australia: City Life Church Melbourne, were actually Board Members of a clinical waste company called SteriHealth. No problem here, well, until she found out that the company was also profiteering from servicing abortion clinics - which included the collecting and incinerating of aborted babies. For this woman (and other Christians) this is just something that Christians, especially Church leaders, are not involved with.

This woman approached the Chairman of SteriHealth Lorenzo Coppa and the

Senior Minister of City Life Church Mark Conner raising the situation the best way she could. She also told a handful of people who likewise contacted the Chairman and the Senior Minister of City Life Church.

What ensued from there was that several of the company’s Board Members

admitted SteriHealth was indeed involved with servicing a number of places that did abortions; although they could not say how many. They were quick to add, however, that they were not aware of the situation until this woman had brought it to their attention. The Chairman of the company, and others, gave assurances that they would take the necessary steps for SteriHealth to get out of contracts which had anything to do with aborted babies; after all, and in their words, “We’re prolife.”

It was interesting to note that even the Australian Christian Lobby waded in to defend SteriHealth and its Board Members. For example, when a former Family First candidate tried to talk to ACL’s Director Jim Wallace about SteriHealth and its link to ACL, Mr Wallace was not prepared to speak to this person.  However, another ACL’s spokesperson did respond to the former candidate and (in a rather firm manner) pointed out, “These are reputable and upstanding Christian men ... you cannot make accusations …” But no one was making accusations, merely stating what was already common knowledge at this stage, that SteriHealth was involved with servicing places which performed abortions. The Chairman of the company admitted it. The CEO admitted it. And even one of his ACL bosses admitted it.

Whether this kind of defence or nervousness had anything to do with the fact that SteriHealth regularly placed full page advertisements in the Australian Christian Lobby’s quarterly magazine: View Point, is hard to know. Just as it is hard to know whether ACL have received large donations from people heavily associated with SteriHealth, as the Family First Party has. That is, evidently Family First has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a number of the company’s leading shareholders, employees and CEO.

It should also be mentioned, that ACL’s Victorian Director (evidently an unofficial spokesperson for SteriHealth) phoned a woman in Adelaide on Thursday the 10 of February 2011; no doubt because he had been notified that she had become aware of the situation. He insisted SteriHealth was getting out of its involvement with servicing abortion clinics, and, in short, suggested that she and others had no further reason to be worried over the matter.

Not convinced, the very next day the woman sent an email to SteriHealth head

office in Victoria. Pretending that she was going to set up an abortion clinic in

Beenleigh, Queensland, she asked:

Will your company SteriHealth pick up all medical waste from our facility?

This includes aborted babies, body tissue, body fluids and so forth?

The Victorian office quickly forwarded the email onto a SteriHealth sales

representative in Queensland, who responded enthusiastically on the same day:

“We are able to offer you the services you require. We have a range of bins

for collection ranging from a 20L pail to a 240L clinical bins. … Beenleigh is

practically down the road from where our treatment facility and office is

located.”

When this was pointed out to the ACL representative and SteriHealth Board

Members, they accused this woman as “acting in an unethical manner”. Never

mind that she was merely trying to find out, for her own peace of mind, whether SteriHealth was still willing to service abortion clinics. And never mind how the email response from SteriHealth confirmed her fears.

Apart from this, another matter arose at the same time, which raised further

suspicion to an already series of troubling events. It was noticed that David

McCracken Ministries and City Life Church had removed Board Members and

Board of Elders from their website pages who were Board Members of SteriHealth, or associated with the company. When this rather unusual situation had been raised, it was said to have been “coincidental”.

So what do we make of all this?  At the very least SteriHealth was involved in something it should not have been apart of: the abortion industry. That is, servicing businesses that were/are performing abortions, and collecting the aborted babies and disposing of them in incinerators. This is horrific, particularly as the Board Members of the company are all professing Christians; furthermore, church leaders.

Whilst it is commendable, since this has come to the Board Members’ attention, that they are doing something about the situation and attempting to change their company’s practices, it does nevertheless raise some serious questions. Perhaps the main one being of how a group of Board Members of a clinical waste company did not know what their full line of business was, especially when their sales staff apparently did? The inevitable deceit

Now that we’ve all picked our jaw up off the ground, because Ms Gillard and Mr Swan have precisely done what they said they wouldn’t do and are bringing in a carbon tax, we have to organise the fight to stop it.

Yes, we are going to have to go through all the arguments again and we will win again. 

Let’s start from these. The people who couldn’t get fluffy stuff in the ceiling for the rats and mice to sleep on without setting fire to 190 houses; the people who decided to go on some manic building spree in the backyard of every school ,whether the schools liked it or not and in many cases in multiples of the cost of the true price on the structures ; these same people who thought they could reboot the global economy with the purchase of imported electronic goods with $900 cheques; the same people who have got you into $181billion in gross debt; yet the same people again who looked down the barrel of a camera to talk to the Australian people and stated categorically they would never bring in a carbon tax in the term of their government; they are the people who are going to bring in the carbon tax because they have the quite evident expertise, despite all the history to the contrary ,to cool the planet from a room in Canberra.

  

Not surprisingly, what they have changed is the temperature of people’s disposition. There is a palpable white fury from the deceit that people feel. People can hardly afford and in some cases not afford at all the power bills they currently have. They do not need any more motivation to use less power. They are totally focused on this because they can’t afford to pay for their current usage.

 People understand that you either have cheap power or cheap wages. There is another alternative, no jobs and Australia’s manufacturing industry, or what’s left of it, is well and truly in the sights of this absurd decision of Ms Gillard. I look forward to AWU Secretary, Mr Howse, in his next Mussolini impersonation behind the podium, to go into bat for these jobs, but I haven’t heard boo from him today.

In the background, literally and photographically, are Mr Windsor and Mr Oakeshott. Mr Oakeshott, well you can just make your own mind up about him, but Mr Windsor’s statement at the press conference is peculiar. He said, “and please don’t construe through my presence here that I will be actually supporting any scheme”. Well, Mr Windsor, what were you doing there? Did you get lost on the way to the toilet and just stumble across the Prime Minister doing her press conference and decide to stand in on it?

Please don’t tell me that we have to go through this teeth pulling agony as you stand at the front of the political church in the big white fluffy dress saying ,” I don’t know how I got here and I don’t know whether I shall say I do. Don’t construe that this dress means I’m getting married to another Labor/ Green party decision.

  

I was not in the least bit surprised about the white fury I’m hearing in Sydney and how some of the illuminati misread that there would be such an overwhelming reaction against the announcement of the carbon tax. I am not surprised in the slightest by the almost monastic silence of Mr Bill Shorten as he sits back salivating on Ms Gillard and her Green cohorts happily mounting their own political pyre. 

Day one, round one, and we, the National Party and the Liberal Party are ready for the fight.

The Heart of Worship

If I were to ask you, "What is Worship?" how would you respond? To bow down before a deity? A God? To prostrate yourself before an image of something purporting to be divine? To sing songs of adoration to a heavenly being?

The most common mistake Christians make in worship today is seeking an experience rather than seeking God. They look for a feeling, and if it happens, they conclude that they have worshiped. Wrong! In fact, God often removes our feelings so we won't depend on them. Seeking a feeling, even the feeling of closeness to Christ, is not worship.

Then, to many believers "worship" is something you do to the sound of music when you're in church. In fact it's even given its own category. It's often accepted that "Worship" is the soft, slow, intimate kind of music that causes one to close their eyes, lift their hands and enter into a kind of heavenly euphoria, while "Praise" music is the upbeat, boppy, clap your hands, stomp your feet kind of stuff. Well that's not quite right.

Matt Redman, a worship leader in England, tells how his pastor taught his church the real meaning of worship. To show that worship is more than music, he banned all singing in their services for a period of time while they learned to worship in other ways. By the end of that time. Matt had written the classic song "Heart of Worship": The lyrics go like this . . .

I'll bring You more than a song, for a song in itself

Is not what You have required.

You search much deeper within than the way things appear.

You're looking into my heart.

When it comes to Worship, The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.

Beyond the music, the truth is we worship God with our lives - each moment, and the most precious offering of worship is sacrificed to Him on the altar of suffering. We are to offer ourselves up as living sacrifices the Good Book says "Praise" is to be offered up as a sacrifice. Sacrifice implies suffering. If it doesn't hurt you to give friend, you haven't truly given!

The deepest level of worship is praising God in spite of pain, thanking God during a trial, trusting him when tempted, surrendering while suffering, and loving him when he seems distant".

Philip Yancey once said, "Any relationship involves times of closeness and times of distance, and in a relationship with God, no matter how intimate, the pendulum will swing from one side to the other". That's when worship gets difficult, but then that's when worship comes from the heart not the lips.

Matthew 15:8, "they draw near to me with their MOUTHS and honour me with their LIPS but their hearts are far from me".

The Father is not interested in lip service. Are you ready to worship Him from you heart today? Do you trust Him enough to praise Him, to worship Him despite your present, temporary pain? If you can worship Him in the midst of pain, you have worshiped Him indeed!

Okay, here's the bombshell. The volcanic eruption in Iceland, since its first spewing of volcanic ash has, in just FOUR DAYS, NEGATED EVERY SINGLE EFFORT you have made in the past five years to control CO2 emissions on our planet – all of you.

Of course you know about this evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress – it’s that vital chemical compound that every plant requires to live and grow, and to synthesize into oxygen for us humans, and all animal life.

I know, it's very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of: driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up till midnight to finish your kid's "The Green Revolution" science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, vacationing at home instead of abroad, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your 50 cents light bulbs with $10.00 light bulbs...well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just four days.

The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth's atmosphere in just four days - yes - FOUR DAYS ONLY by that volcano in Iceland, has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud any one time - EVERY DAY.

I don't really want to rain on your parade too much, but I should mention that when the volcano Mt Pinatubo erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than the entire human race had emitted in its entire YEARS on earth. Yes folks, Mt Pinatubo was active for over one year – think about it.

Of course I shouldn't spoil this touchy-feely tree-hugging moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic activity and the well-recognized 800-year global heating and cooling cycle, which keep happening, despite our completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.

And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the bush fire season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year.

Just remember that your government just tried to impose a whopping carbon tax on you on the basis of the bogus “human-caused” climate change scenario.

Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention “Global Warming” any more, but just “Climate Change” - you know why? It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century and these global warming bull artists got caught with their pants down.

And just keep in mind that you might yet have an Emissions Trading Scheme – that whopping new tax – imposed on you, that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer. It won’t stop any volcanoes from erupting, that’s for sure.

But hey, relax, give the world a hug and have a nice day!

The Mark of the Beast and the Prosperity Gospel

What a coup for the enemy of the human soul. To lure professing believers by the nose ring of their own covetousness and lust to seek after all things transient and pertaining to corruptible flesh. How Satan and his messengers sing a historic, predictable dirge. Or is it perhaps more accurately the case that such permission is granted revilers as a judgement against them by an offended God?

Ah the hissss of Popularity, Success, Influence, Title, Estate and unrealistic perpetual health - all things destined to perish and die. That mountain high and lifted up where we who dare serve Jesus must also stand and be tempted. But oh the seduction to, without struggle, indulge the wayward traveller to such a degree of drunkenness that they, in their deluded stupor, position themselves to accept and affirm any decree in order to keep all such stuff. Including a mark of subservience in a time not too distant perhaps? Revelation 13:16

The wise servant lays up for himself treasures in HEAVEN where moth cannot destroy, nor thief steal, nor rust decay. The fool, where his flesh abides. And he who seeks after riches strays from the faith and brings upon himself many sorrows. Two masters after all, cannot be served by the same servant. 1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 6:24.

Surely it was with much sorrow that Jesus lamented the fate of the rich young ruler. For He proclaimed it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven. The Lord's view of riches is universally different to that of mortal man. Why is it harder for the rich? Because there is too much to lose. It is their treasure, for it is where their heart resides. It has their confidence, constrains their faith to servitude, and demands their unwaivering devotion. It is very actually, a god. Were it not, the surrender of it would not even rise to a consideration. (Matthew 19:16-26) Alas, at this late hour, many have, in a very real sense, become so intimately one with these temporary trinkets and vanities, they are now veritably indistinguishable.

And how dark are the days for those who are so focused not upon Christ, but upon themselves and their endless collections and lust? They who cannot see their own wretchedness, who are even at this very time being called upon to choose, many to their own damnation. And how can they not see? Because they do not love the truth despite their proclamations. They have not been taught to prepare for the wrath to come, but rather to indulge themselves in the kingdom now.

Yet amid the darkness there is a great light. The good news that God Himself has provided a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, delivered personally by grace, received through gifted faith and completely without human interaction.

The Apostle Paul, speaking of the true seed of God in Romans 9, says in verse 16 that human intervention in salvation is not possible in any sense. (See also Ephesians 2:8-9). In fact read the whole chapter and you will see that the only contribution we make to salvation is SIN. God's appointed sacrifice, and His sacrifice alone paid the penalty in full, which would have otherwise guaranteed us each  eternal death in eternal fire.

It is Almighty God's plan of redemption for those who have been separated from Him by sin. That sacrifice was God Himself, incarnate, in human flesh. Fully God and fully man. Jesus Christ.

And this simple Gospel is largely unknown in the modern professing church.

Truly, one of the greatest fields white unto harvest is within the professing Church itself.

The clarion cry is for all... Repent, Believe.

Just musing, If Hillsong ever made a movie about Bobbie, they could call it "The Wife of Brian." I think it would be hilarious. There could even be a line in the movie speaking of Brian, something like...

The Evil Heart of Seeker Sensitivity

What really angers me about Seeker Sensitive synergists is a many pronged goad. One is the kind of convert they generate through their man centric revival-thons. Completely deceived drones led to believe they have obtained salvation when in reality they have merely attained a fad church membership.

This swarming throng are called Churchtians, a product of shameful compromise, and they're coming to a Community Centre near you.

The scriptural knowledge of too many of these so called converts is completely non-existent, save a few misquoted half verses which they chant as if they were a talisman for troubled times. They know the words... the letter, but they do not know the One nor His intent, because their teachers do not know Him. And who can blame the student given their Seeker Sensitive mentoring? They can only perceive God through their senses because that is how they were taught to perceive Him. Their guides are blind just as the Word teaches. They are not satisfied with His written revelation of Himself, they desire more than He has made available. Ethereal appears to be the only way in which they can associate with Him, or believe they do better put. This therefore is not Christianity, it is mysticism.

Too many do not know God through the Word because His Word is not taught in their fellowships. Rather, it is strip mined in order to justify a preconceived, grand notion.

But by far, the greatest tragedy of all is that these lost souls believe they are saved when they clearly are not. They do not know Salvation because they have no understanding of Redemption. And how could they possibly? It has never met with their ears, let alone their hearts. And yet, per chance were they to know, the question would still remain, “redeemed from what”?

To facilitate appeal and a kindly image, there is no longer teaching on the terminally depraved nature of man and his propensity to do evil always. This reality has been replaced with the more lucritive... er... relative... "personal and awesome potential in Jesus". Sells lots of books, makes LOTS of money, not that that would ever be the incentive right? These speakers preach meology, and how their fans adore them for it. Jesus loves you, of course He does, who wouldn't?

Folks, grasp the reality of this... These people are not redeemed because they do not know what it means to be a sinner. And who is responsible for that? Who are they who strive to give the lost what they want at the expense of what they need?

Traitors masquerading as Christians have delivered to these non seeking seekers, a gospel that generously tickles their enlarging ears, while damning them to Hell in the process. And all in the name of another Jesus.

These proliferate wolves which our collective carelessness have allowed into the fold, have performed perhaps no greater evil against another soul than to deceive him with regard to his salvation.

Yes I burn with anger against them, who could not considering why Christ intentionally came? Is His sacrifice worth less to another than it is to ourselves?

Then warn them, ALL of them... and warn them loud. Time is short.

Our Comfort

"He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." - John_14:16

 

Great Father revealed himself to believers of old before the coming of his Son, and was known to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as the God Almighty. Then Jesus came, and the ever-blessed Son in his own proper person, was the delight of his people’s eyes. At the time of the Redeemer’s ascension, the Holy Spirit became the head of the present dispensation, and his power was gloriously manifested in and after Pentecost. He remains at this hour the present Immanuel-God with us, dwelling in and with his people, quickening, guiding, and ruling in their midst. Is his presence recognized as it ought to be? We cannot control his working; he is most sovereign in all his operations, but are we sufficiently anxious to obtain his help, or sufficiently watchful lest we provoke him to withdraw his aid? Without him we can do nothing, but by his almighty energy the most extraordinary results can be produced: everything depends upon his manifesting or concealing his power. Do we always look up to him both for our inner life and our outward service with the respectful dependence which is fitting? Do we not too often run before his call and act independently of his aid? Let us humble ourselves this evening for past neglects, and now entreat the heavenly dew to rest upon us, the sacred oil to anoint us, the celestial flame to burn within us. The Holy Ghost is no temporary gift, he abides with the saints. We have but to seek him aright, and he will be found of us. He is jealous, but he is pitiful; if he leaves in anger, he returns in mercy. Condescending and tender, he does not weary of us, but awaits to be gracious still.

Why We Should Desire Trials - Trial and Consolation

“For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.” - 2Corinthians_1:5

There is a blessed proportion. The Ruler of Providence bears a pair of scales-in this side he puts his people’s trials, and in that he puts their consolations. When the scale of trial is nearly empty, you will always find the scale of consolation in nearly the same condition; and when the scale of trials is full, you will find the scale of consolation just as heavy. When the black clouds gather most, the light is the more brightly revealed to us. When the night lowers and the tempest is coming on, the Heavenly Captain is always closest to his crew. It is a blessed thing, that when we are most cast down, then it is that we are most lifted up by the consolations of the Spirit. One reason is, because trials make more room for consolation. Great hearts can only be made by great troubles. The spade of trouble digs the reservoir of comfort deeper, and makes more room for consolation. God comes into our heart-he finds it full-he begins to break our comforts and to make it empty; then there is more room for grace. The humbler a man lies, the more comfort he will always have, because he will be more fitted to receive it. Another reason why we are often most happy in our troubles, is this-then we have the closest dealings with God. When the barn is full, man can live without God: when the purse is bursting with gold, we try to do without so much prayer. But once take our gourds away, and we want our God; once cleanse the idols out of the house, then we are compelled to honour Jehovah. “Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.” There is no cry so good as that which comes from the bottom of the mountains; no prayer half so hearty as that which comes up from the depths of the soul, through deep trials and afflictions. Hence they bring us to God, and we are happier; for nearness to God is happiness. Come, troubled believer, fret not over your heavy troubles, for they are the heralds of weighty mercies.
