There are often times in a fallen world such as the one in which we live when "unity" (no matter how honourably desired) will not at all be possible without truth being first sacrificed on the altar of expedience.
Many mainstream "Christian" denominations have already crossed over and according to the Word of God many more will do so. Jesus said this must happen before His return, so we should expect it. Never should we become so free in "grace" that we forget that the uncomfortable truths of God are not negotiable nor are they politically appeased. Eve first fell for the same lie and her generations continue to do so.
